Solar panels for business

Business

Powering businesses with smarter energy solutions

With more than a decade of experience under our belt, we specialise in the end-to-end delivery of commercial solar panels for business premises – from consultation and design to installation and maintenance. Our photovoltaic (PV) systems, tailored to suit each company’s needs exactly, help to significantly lower operating costs, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and stay resilient in the face of energy price volatility. What’s more, thanks to our integrated battery storage technology, our solar solutions empower businesses with greater independence too. By storing excess energy for use during peak demand periods, clients can access a continuous, reliable, and cost-effective supply that keeps pace with operational needs.

tailored

Tailored solar systems for business

No two organisations are the same, so their energy solutions shouldn’t be either. That’s why we take a holistic overview of your working environment, designing custom business solar PV systems that account for the needs and conditions of your unique site. This includes assessing your current energy usage, property layout, and which type of technology – whether it’s a roof-mounted, ground-mounted, or carport solution – would best suit your business’ needs. This way, you can unlock maximum energy efficiency, accelerate your company’s decarbonisation goals, and see a faster return on investment.

A solar system for business is only as strong as the setup behind it. That’s why we design fully integrated systems that not only generate electricity on site, but store and supply it when you need it most – such as after hours or when grid prices spike. No energy going to waste. No unexpected downtime or spiralling costs. With solar battery storage, for businesses that meet distinct power usage patterns, your energy can work harder, last longer, and deliver greater value across every part of your operation. If you’re unsure whether a battery is the right fit for your business, we’ll work with you to assess your energy needs and find the best solution.

Our solar for business process

Installation

Making solar panel installations seemless

Turnkey delivery

Most solar projects are classed as ‘permitted development’ and don’t require local planning permission. But if yours does, we’ll help navigate the process as part of our end-to-end service offering. We’ll even manage complex grid connection approvals too, including liaising with the distribution network operator (DNO) to keep things streamlined and compliant from day one.

Certified expertise

NICEIC approved and backed by MCS certification for systems up to 50kW, Purelec applies the highest standards across every installation. Whatever the size or scope of the project, we leverage decades of expertise to deliver reliable, high-performance systems that drive energy independence, sustainability, and long-term cost savings that set you apart.

Meticulous planning

We know downtime costs. That’s why we plan to the nth degree, taking time to understand your operations and site logistics to plan for access, timing, and safety from the very beginning. This way, we can keep everything on track from start to finish, with a professional, low-impact business solar panel installation that keeps operations running smoothly throughout.

Backed by trusted warranties

Commercial solar panel installations should be built to endure. That’s why we only work with leading parts manufacturers, with product warranties typically ranging from 10 to 30 years to ensure long-lasting reliability. When it comes to our workmanship and ongoing care, we take a flexible and pragmatic approach to ensure every installation is complete to the highest standards too, with bespoke maintenance and support options tailored to your system and site needs. It’s all part of our commitment to protecting your investment, without locking you into any formal servicing packages.

FAQs

Do I need permission to connect solar panels for business to the grid?

In most cases, commercial roof-mounted solar installations qualify as ‘permitted development’ and don’t require planning permission, especially for roof-mounted systems under one megawatt. However, exceptions apply if your building is listed, in some cases within a conservation area, or if you’re opting for a large-scale ground-mounted system.

When it comes to connecting your system to the grid, the rules depend on its size. If your system stays within 3.68 kW per phase (under G98 regulations), you don’t need prior approval. But if your setup exceeds that limit – reaching above 11.04 kW on a three-phase supply – you’ll need to gain approval under G99 regulations. That’s where we come in. Our experts take care of the heavy lifting, liaising with the DNO on your behalf to make sure the necessary permissions are in place before the installation begins.

How disruptive is commercial solar panel installation for businesses?

Minimising day-to-day disruption is a top priority for any solar installation. Business leaders can rest easy, knowing that while some disturbance is unavoidable, we work closely with your teams to mitigate the impact and offer workarounds wherever possible – including scheduling shutdowns outside business hours and managing access requirements like scaffolding and safety netting. Ultimately, we want to ensure seamless operations throughout the process while bringing the project to a safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion.

How much solar energy does my organisation need?

Every clients’ needs and objectives are different. To calculate what’s best, we assess various factors, including your onsite annual consumption, usage patterns, and the rate you are paying for your energy. We then evaluate these against your capex budget, available space, and optimal roof elevations or ground areas that might suit commercial solar panel installation. For businesses focused on costs, avoiding volatile energy prices and reducing operational spend could be a key project driver. Meanwhile, for others, carbon offsetting could be a bigger priority. Whatever your needs, we listen closely and advise on the ways solar can deliver the greatest value long term.

Do solar systems for businesses require a battery?

Solar battery storage, for businesses that generate more energy than they use in real time, offers an efficient way to store excess power for use during peak demand periods or after hours. However, if a company utilises all onsite solar energy, leaving little or no excess to be stored within the battery, a fully integrated system might not offer sensible returns. We explore this in the early stages of your project to identify the most practical and cost-effective solution for your energy goals.

How long will it take to install solar panels from my business?

The timeline depends on the size of your system and site-specific factors, including the location of your installation, access, and any operational constraints. A typical 50kWp solar array installed on a trapezoidal (sheet metal) roof would take approximately three weeks to complete in total – one week to erect scaffolding and prepare the site, one week to install the equipment, and one week to remove the scaffolding and reinstate the site to its original condition, with the added benefit of onsite generation at the end.

Do battery systems provide backup power during outages?

Our battery storage solutions are primarily designed to help businesses manage energy usage, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. While full backup power for outages can be achieved in larger commercial settings, this can be a complex and costly process, requiring extensive battery capacity and full reconfiguration of a property’s AC systems. Given the current low frequency of power cuts in most areas, this level of backup is typically excluded from our standard installations. However, we’re happy to discuss your options during your consultation.
